Figured I'd post this FYI.
Just did the 40k DSG transmission service on my 2017 Alltrack, had the benefit of a knowledgeable friend with a lift and scan tool.
Not really that difficult of a job, the most time consuming part is removing the air box assembly , battery and tray with associated wire clips.
Everything can be done with common hand tools.
You need to have a funnel that will either fit the center hole in the filter housing or screw into drain plug hole, we had one that fit the filter
housing. The on caveat is ...you need to have a way of determining when the trans fluid is up to temp and then drain off excess, my buddy
had software on a laptop for this.
There are some instructional videos on Youtube that are helpful.
I paid $120 for the materials Deutsche Auto on line, think dealers charge somewhere between $350-$450.

DIY DSG fluid change procedure shown on VW Jetta TDI. A mk5 Jetta is shown but mk6 cars are the same. There were DSG transmissions available in the mk4 New Beetle TDI so refer to the mk4 FAQ section for any small differences like fluid capacity if you have a Beetle.

I may consider buying an used B8.5 S4 in the future and just wondering how expensive it is to do the DSG transmission service. Would the DSG service has the same procedures as on a ZF transmission? Procedure would be replace the transmission filter and fluid? How much does a shop charge to do the service? If it involves a very complicated procedures, what shop can really do this except for the dealer?
I know DSG is faster than a 6 speed manual. But it would probably make sense to get a 6 speed manual S4 if the DSG is problematic and expensive to maintain.
